Catch-up Course materials
In the academic session 2020-21 due to COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown there were no proper classes commenced in the school and students directly promoted to the next class. To bridge the learning loss of children during COVID-19 and closure of schools, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in collaboration with Bihar Education Project Council and UNICEF has designed Catch-up course for students studying in class 2 to 12. Subject experts were involved in this process. The 3-month catch-up classes will not only focus on bridging learning gap of conventional subjects but also on enhancing regional language’s ability among students besides environment study, art and yoga. This course is similar course of the general syllabus of all classes. In this course, the teacher will be adding details to study things so that students will be able to catch things which are they study now and they missed out in the previous classes.
State level Training of Master Trainers done and 8 MTs from each districts were prepared. These MTs conducted ToT at district level and all teachers have been trained at CRC level. As per the module, students will learn mathematics, science, social science along with Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bangla, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Arabic and Persian for honing up their skill and bridging the gap/learning loss. This catch-up course was to be implemented in all schools of Bihar from new academic session 2021-22, but due to COVID-19 second wave schools have been closed, so it couldn’t be implemented so far. SCERT is planning to get it implemented once school re-opens.
